Paris Paralympics 2024-India wins 29 medals

Paris Paralympics 2024-the 17th edition of Paralympics concluded in Paris on 8 September.

  • The Games were held in Paris, France, from 28 August to 8 September 2024, and featured 549 medal events across 22 sports.
  • China topped the Paralympics medals table with 220 medals, including 94 golds. Great Britain finished second in Paris with 49 golds, followed by the United States, which claimed 36 titles.
  • India clinched 18th spot on the medals tally.
  • Los Angeles will be hosting the next Paralympic Summer Games in 2028.
  • The Indian contingent concluded its historic Paris Paralympics campaign with 29 medals, including 7 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze medals, marking the country’s best performance in the competition’s history.
  • The 29 medals were won across five sports, with a remarkable 17 coming from track and field events.
  • With this achievement, India has surpassed its previously most successful campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where they secured 19 medals, including five golds, eight silver, and six bronze medals.
  • A record 84 para-athletes represented India from August 28 to September 8, competing across 12 disciplines.
  • For India, Avani Lekhara (Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1), Sumit Antil (Men’s Javelin Throw F64), Harvinder Singh (Men’s Individual Recurve Open), Nitesh Kumar (Men’s Singles SL3), Dharambir (Men’s Club Throw F51), Praveen Kumar (Men’s High Jump T64) and Navdeep Singh (Men’s Javelin Throw F41) won gold medals.
