India’s men’s hockey team medals at Olympics

India’s men’s hockey team won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Spain, thanks to skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s double strike.

The Indian Hockey team gave a befitting farewell to veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh who played his last International match.

The victory at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium saw India secure a record-extending 13th medal in hockey at the Olympics and the second bronze in successive editions.

The last time India achieved consecutive Olympic medals in men’s hockey was in 1968 and 1972.

India had previously won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, which was their first Olympic hockey medal since the 1980 Games.

In 1928, the team won its first Olympic gold medal and until 1960, the Indian men’s team remained unbeaten in the Olympics, winning six gold medals in a row.
