- The world’s largest national flag, the Indian Tricolor made from Khadi, was displayed along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Longewala, on the occasion of 74th Army Day on January 15, 2022.
- Longewala, in the western part of the desert state’s Jaisalmer district was the site of the iconic Battle of Longewala in 1971, which was fought during that year’s war between the two neighbors.
- The flag is 225 feet long, 150 feet wide and weighs around 1 thousand 400 kilogram, while the Ashoka Chakra in the center has a diameter of 30 feet.
- The ‘Monumental National Flag’ is a creation of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission to mark the ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
