World Vegan Day 2021

World Vegan Day is celebrated on November 1 every year by vegans across the world. The day was launched in 1994 by then Chair of The Vegan Society, Louise Wallis, in the United Kingdom, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organisation.

What is Veganism?

  • Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet and an individual who follows the diet or philosophy is known as a vegan.
  • The proponents of veganism argue that the practice (veganism) reduces greenhouse gasses that are a major part of global warming and climate change. It also argues that there is an evidence that veganism can help combat world hunger, with the food used to feed livestock instead used to help those that struggle to find or afford food.
  • World Vegan day hopes to inspire people to make their diets less meat-based with the aim to help the environment.
