The World Happiness Report 2021 was released on March 19, 2021 by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
- Finland was once again crowned as the world’s happiest country followed by Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Norway.
- India has been ranked 139 out of 149 countries. In 2019, India was ranked 140th. Pakistan is on 105th, Bangladesh on 101st and China on 84th in the report.
- Zimbabwe is on 148th, Rwanda on 147th, Botswana on 146th and Lesotho on 145th.
- The World Happiness Report ranks 149 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be.
- The report ranks countries based on gross domestic product per person, healthy life expectancy and the opinions of residents. The opinions are based on social support, freedom to make own life choices, sense of how corrupt their society is and how generous they are.
