Unesco has listed traditional Thai massage, Nuad Thai, in its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on December 12, 2019 at its meeting that was held in Bogota, Columbia .

Thai massage is an aspect of traditional medicinal wisdom that is related to Buddhist teachings and local cultures.
Unlike conventional massages, Thai massages involve a lot of movement and typically sees people assuming a series of different positions.
What is Intangible cultural Heritage?
According to Unesco, the intangible culture heritage list seeks to recognise things that are “important to preserve for future generations like songs sung and stories told”.
Other practices added to this year’s list include: Irish harping, Celestinian forgiveness in Italy, the Carnival of Podence in Portugal, Silat self-defence in Malaysia.
