The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on July 14 reported its embedded value at Rs 5.41 lakh crore as of March 31 2022.
- It also announced that the value of its new business (VNB) margin for FY22 improved to 15.1 per cent as compared to 9.9 per cent in FY21.
What is Embedded Value (EV)?
- The Embedded Value (EV) is a measure of the consolidated value of shareholders’ interest in the life insurance business.
- The embedded value of a life insurance company is the present value of future profits plus adjusted net asset value (NAV). The metric is popularly used to value insurance firms across the world.
- NAV is the book value of its assets less its liabilities
