WEF’s Global Lighthouse Network

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has recognized Hindustan Unilever Limited’s (HUL) plant in Doom Dooma, Tinsukia district, Assam, as an advanced fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) end-to-end (E2E) value chain ‘Lighthouse.’

  • This achievement highlights the plant’s adoption of cutting-edge 4IR technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) at scale.
  • This is HUL’s third plant in South Asia to earn this distinction, following its factories in Dapada (Dadra and Nagar Haveli) and Sonepat (Haryana). Notably, HUL is the only company in India to have three factories designated as ‘Lighthouses.’
  • Cipla (Indore), Tata Steel (Jamshedpur), ReNew Power (Karnataka) are some other companies recognised as ‘Lighthouse.’
  • The WEF’s Global Lighthouse Network, established in 2018, celebrates the world’s most digitally advanced industrial sites.
  • These sites demonstrate exemplary performance in productivity, supply chain resilience, customer care, sustainability, and workforce upskilling, embodying the principles of sustainable and innovative growth.
