Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 17, 2020 launched a 6-month long women empowerment campaign ‘Mission Shakti’ from Devi Paatan Shakti Peeth (देवीपाटन शक्ति पीठ) in Balrampur.
- The objective of this campaign is to raise awareness and tackle crime against women in the state.
- The campaign was initiated by various ministers, public representatives and senior officials in all 75 districts across the state.
- The campaign started on the first day of Shardiya Navratri and will be continued till Basantik Navratri next year.
- Under Mission Shakti, different awareness and training programs will be conducted regarding various schemes for the protection, respect and self-reliance of women and girls.
- Women nodal officers have been appointed by government in all the districts for the execution and monitoring of the campaign.
