Women and Child Development Minister on March 2, 2022 launched the “Stree Manoraksha Project for capacity building of One Stop Centre.
- This project has been designed to end the cycle of violence against women. Union Minister Smriti Irani stressed that process of empowerment must be started from childhood.
- She added that Stree Manoraksha Project is a life skill to provide help to women who are facing atrocities.
About One Stop Centre Scheme (OSCs)
- One Stop Centre Scheme (OSCs) is being implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
- The scheme is being implemented across the country since 1st April, 2015 through State Governments/ Union Territory (UT) Administrations.
- The One Stop Centre Scheme provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence and in distress, both in private and public spaces, under one roof and facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including police, medical, legal aid and counseling, psychological support to fight against any forms of violence against women.
- Under the One Stop Centre Scheme, 100% funding is provided by Central Government directly to the district authorities from Nirbhaya Fund.
