- Chairman: Shri Palle Ganga Reddy has been appointed the first Chairperson.

- Top turmeric-growing states like Maharashtra, Telangana, and Meghalaya, the latter known for its Lakadong Turmeric.
- Key Objectives:
- Welfare of turmeric farmers.
- Research and development of superior turmeric varieties.
- Promoting value addition and export of turmeric products.
- Enhancing awareness about turmeric’s medicinal and essential properties.
- Improving logistics and supply chains to access new markets.
- India’s Role in Turmeric Production:
- India grows 30 varieties of turmeric, including those with Geographical Indications (GI) tags.
- India grows turmeric in 20 states, contributing to 70% of global production.
- It is the world’s largest producer, consumer, and exporter of turmeric, with over 62% of the global trade share.
- In 2023-24, India exported 1.62 lakh tonnes of turmeric worth $226.5 million.
