The United Nations (UN) has unanimously adopted Bangladesh’s flagship resolution, ‘Natural Plant Fibres and Sustainable Development’.

- Plant fibres include seed hairs, such as cotton; stem fibres, such as flax and hemp; leaf fibres, such as sisal; and husk fibres, such as coconut.
- The resolution also recognized natural fibres as a commendable alternative to synthetic and plastic-based products, highlighting that the production, consumption, and use of natural fibres can contribute to achieving the 2030 agenda.
