According to the latest data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI):
- Ukraine emerged as the largest importer of major arms globally in the 2020-24 period, with imports rising nearly a hundredfold compared to 2015-19.
- India ranked as the second-largest arms importer worldwide, although its import figures fell by 9.3% between 2015-19 and 2020-24.
- India was the primary arms export destination for both Russia and France, though its volume of imports from Russia has significantly decreased.
- The share of Indian arms imports from Russia dropped to 36% in 2020-24, compared to 55% in 2015-19 and 72% in 2010-14.
- Among the top arms importers globally in 2020-24, four countries from Asia and Oceania—India, Pakistan, Japan, and Australia—were included.
- On the export side, Russia delivered major arms to 33 countries in 2020-24, with two-thirds of its exports going to three countries: India (38%), China (17%), and Kazakhstan (11%).
