The Tokyo Olympics 2020 has been rescheduled and now it will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021, almost exactly a year after the Games were to commence this year.
The Paralympic Games, which were supposed to start Aug. 24, will now take place in 2021 from Aug. 24 to Sept. 5.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed the new dates for the 32nd edition.
Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, said that the date was picked to give organizers the maximum time to deal with the fallout from the coronavirus. When he called for a show of support on the call, it was unanimous.
