The two-day Ukraine peace summit titled “Summit on Peace in Ukraine” was held at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland on 15-16 June 2024.
- More than 90 countries and global institutions attended the event. It was the biggest gathering for Ukraine since the full-scale invasion.
- Russia was not invited, and China – a key ally of Russia – did not attend the summit. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris represented the United States.
- India was represented by Secretary (West) Ambassador Pawan Kapoor.
- The Swiss summit was held after G7 leaders agreed to use interest from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine defend itself against the invading Russian forces.
- A draft declaration issued at the summit reaffirms Ukraine’s territorial integrity and unambiguously rejects any nuclear threat against the country.
