- A two-stage Falcon 9 rocket topped with the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) NROL-87 payload lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.
- Since NROL-87 is a spy satellite, its activities and instruments are classified. NROL-87 was the NRO’s first launch of the year.
