- The brave soldier of 2nd Jammu & Kashmir Rifles is credited with saving Subansiri Valley in Arunachal Pradesh by holding off repeated Chinese assaults for over 72 hours, regardless of the danger to his life.
- The Apatani, or Tanw, also known by Apa and Apa Tani, are a tribal group of people living in the Ziro valley in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh in India.
