The second meeting of the India-CARICOM (Caribbean Community and Common Market) Joint Commission was held in virtual mode on 7th November 2024.
- Representatives from the CARICOM Secretariat, CARICOM member states and Ministries in the Government of India participated in the virtual meeting, as per the statement.
- The first meeting of the India-CARICOM Joint Commission was held in Georgetown, Guyana on June 2, 2015. CARICOM, a 15-member regional organization, holds significant value for India.
- The grouping represents a cohesive voice in the Caribbean, with member states engaging in collective action on economic and social issues.
- Strengthening ties with CARICOM aligns with India’s broader strategy of deepening relationships with partners in the Global South, especially those sharing common developmental goals and democratic values.
