For the first time, two Indian technical institutions have found place among the top 50 in by subject in the QS World University Ranking.
IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi occupied the 44th and 47th rank, respectively, this year in engineering & technology.
In the top 100 global list, five Indian institutions have featured this year as against three in last year’s rankings.
Overall, 12 institutions from the country were ranked in the top 500 in this category alone.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is at top position for the 8th year in a row. In the second and third positions are Stanford and Cambridge, respectively.
In the arts and humanities category, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) improved its ranking from 166 to 164 among the top 500 universities with the University of Delhi too featuring among the top 250 in this category.
University of Oxford has topped this year’s arts and humanities ranking.
