Public Service Broadcasting Day celebrated on 12 November

The All India Radio celebrated Public Service Broadcasting Day on November 12, 2919.

A special function was organized in the premises of the broadcast house of All India Radio this evening.

On the occasion, two Akashvani Public Broadcasting Awards were announced for radio programmes by AIR Jammu and Shimla.

Background

Every year November 12 is celebrated as Public Service Broadcasting Day to commemorate the first and only visit of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, to All India Radio.

The occasion was his address to displaced people, who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition.
