Prime Minister Modi launched a twin-cooktop model of the of the IndianOil’s Indoor Solar Cooking System at India Energy Week 2023. The twin cooktop model makes room for flexibility as it can function on both solar as well as auxiliary.
- The system will help in reducing India’s dependability upon the import of LGP.
- The commercial rollout of the indoor solar cooking system will be seen as a major step to promote clean and environment-friendly cooking solutions.
- According to IOC, If this cooking system reaches 30 million households by 2025-26, it would lead to savings in LPG cost by more than 1 lakh crore Rupees and forex savings of 50,000 crore Rupees.
- The IOC also claims that it also helps in CO2 emissions reduction by 50 million tonnes and marketable carbon credits worth about 4,000 crore Rupees.
- Last year, the IOC had unveiled Surya Nutan, a solar cooking system developed indigenously.
