Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya (prime ministers’ museum)

On the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya (prime ministers’ museum) in New Delhi on April 14.

Salient features

  • The Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya is a tribute to every Prime Minister of India since independence and a narrative record of how each has contributed to the development of the nation .
  • The Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya is located in Teen Murti Complex, Delhi and is dedicated to the contributions of all 14 past prime ministers of the country since Independence.
  • Teen Murti Estate was the residence of Jawaharlal Nehru that was converted into the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) after his death.
  • The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya has employed technology based interfaces to encompass heterogeneity in content and frequent rotation of display.
  • The PMO said the museum has been guided by PM Modi’s vision to honour the contribution of all the prime ministers of India towards nation building, irrespective of their ideology or tenure in office.
  • The museum has 43 galleries and can accommodate 4,000 visitors at a time. The price of the museum ticket is Rs 100, if bought online, and Rs 110 in offline mode for Indians while it is Rs 750 for foreigners .
  • Children aged between 5 to 12 years will be get a 50 per cent discount, in both online and offline modes.
