Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the headquarters of IN-SPACe at Bopal, Ahmedabad on June 10.
- The national Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has been set up in Ahmedabad to promote privatisation in the space sector.
- A part of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the new space centre will pave the way for space exploration for private players in space sector.
- IN-SPACe will be the nodal agency, which will allow space activities and non-government private entities to use the Department of Space-related facilities.
- Its aim will be to ensure maximum private participation in the space sector.
- IN-SPACe, approved by the Union Cabinet in June 2020, will be a single-window nodal agency that will permit and oversee Space activities including building of launch vehicles and satellites.
- Through IN-SPACe, Non-Governmental-Private-Entities (NGPEs) will have access to technology, expertise, and facilities free, or at reasonable rates.
