The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on December 10, 2020 greeted the people of Israel and Jewish friends all over the world on Hannukkah festival.
- In a tweet Shri Modi said “Chag Hannukkah Sameach to the friendly people of Israel and Jewish friends all over the world. May the festival bring peace and light in our lives and kindle more warmth to the relationship between our people.”
About Hanukkah
- Hanukkah, which means “dedication”, is the eight-day Jewish celebration that commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
- According to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt.
