Russia’s Rosoboronexport and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) have signed an agreement to cooperate on jointly developing variants of the Pantsir air defence missile and gun system.
- Pantsir system combines missile and guns and is designed to defend small military, administrative and industrial facilities against aircraft and cruise missiles.
- It can engage aircraft with its missiles at altitudes of up to 15 km and with its 30mm guns at altitudes of up to 3,000 metres.
- Russia continues to be the main supplier of defence hardware to India, accounting for close to 60% of the weaponry used by the country’s armed forces.
