- Missile tests saw missiles travelling up to 1,500km (930 miles).
- North Korea’s first long-range (1,000 km+) cruise missile and first claimed nuclear-capable cruise missile.
- This is not the first cruise missile test by the country, however, it is the country’s first long-range cruise missile that could possibly carry a nuclear warhead.
- UN resolutions ban North Korea from carrying out ballistic missiles test – which can carry either nuclear or conventional warhead – in efforts to curb the country’s nuclear programme.
- Ballistic missiles are classed according to how far they can travel, the furthest of which being an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
