Nobel laureate Wilczek wins 2022 Templeton Prize

Nobel Prize-winning theoretical physicist Frank Wilczek was conferred with 2022 Templeton Prize. Wilczek is known for his investigations into the laws of nature.

  • He won the 2004 Nobel Prize along with David J. Gross, and H. David Politzer for their 1973 research explaining the unusual properties of the strong force.
  • Wilczek has continued to pioneer new concepts in physics, naming and developing the theories of anyons, time crystals, and axions, each of which now defines major fields of inquiry.

About Templeton Prize

  • The late Sir John Templeton created the prize in 1972.
  • It is one of the most highly valued prizes at more than $1.3 million.
  • The award recognizes individuals whose life’s work brings together science and spirituality.
  • Past winners include Jane Goodall, Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
