NIMHANS wins WHO’s Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion for 2024

The World Health Organization (WHO) has conferred the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) with the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion for 2024.

  • NIMHANS director Pratima Murthy received the award at the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva. NIMHANS Bengaluru is the country’s premier mental health institution.
  • The Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion was established by WHO in 2019.
  • The award recognises individuals, institutions and/or governmental or non-governmental organisations that have demonstrated remarkable contributions to health promotion.
