Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on 18 February 2018, interacted with students from Jammu and Kashmir under Youth Exchange Programme ‘Watan Ko Jano’ 2017-18. Around 200 youth from the state are on a visit to different places of the country as part of the programme from 11th Feb-20th Feb, 2018.
Organiser: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has been organising programme “Watan Ko Jano” to give exposure to the youth and children of Jammu and Kashmir about the cultural and socio-economic development taking place in other parts of the country. Youth and children hit by militancy and from weaker sections of the society have been identified for the purpose. The programme is conceived by State Rehabilitation Council and funded by Department of Kashmir Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
Participants: Preference is given to school going orphans of militancy hit victims followed by destitute, orphans of Balashram’s/Narinikatan and other orphans in the age group of 14 to 24 years. School going children who have good record in games/ debates/ painting and other cultural activities. are chosen for this programme.
