- Railway Minister Piyush Goyal dedicated India’s first Railway University, National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) to the nation in Vadodara on December 15, 2018.
- Mr Goyal said that this is a big step towards the professional education and training in the railway sector.
- Ministry of Railways has sanctioned 421 crores rupees for this university and its curriculum development for the next five years.
- It was dedicated to the nation by Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani in presence of railway minister Piyush Goyal at a function organized at National Academy of Indian Railway (NAIR) campus.
- The railway university began operations on September 5, 2018 to mark Teacher’s Day. The university is said to be PM Narendra Modi’s brainchild.
