- Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on November 14, 2018 announced that his government will provide free smartphones to all the six lakh women self-help groups under its Mission Shakti programme.
- As per the Chief Minister, women in Odisha have come a long way and the next ceiling to be broken is the digital one. He announced the programme during ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave.
- According to the Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani, his company is working with the Odisha Government on an initiative to integrate several lakh women in the digital mainstream under ‘Mission Shakti’ scheme.
