The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on January 4, 2021 delivered inaugural address at the National Metrology Conclave 2021.
- The Prime Minister also dedicated National Atomic Timescale and Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya Pranali to the Nation.
- The Prime Minister also laid the Foundation Stone of National Environmental Standards Laboratory through a video conference.
National Metrology Conclave 2021
- The Conclave was organised by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi, on its 75th year of inception.
- The theme of the conclave is ‘Metrology for the Inclusive Growth of the Nation’.
About CSIR
- The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural address at the National Metrology Conclave 2021 organised by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR) -National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) , New Delhi on its 75th year of inception.
- CSIR-NPL, New Delhi, is one of the few premier laboratories established under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR) before independence on January 04, 1947.
- CSIR-NPL is the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of India and Member of the General Conference of Weight and Measures (CGPM).
Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya
- The NPL has adopted an international practice for production of Indian Certified Reference Material (CRMs) Trademarked as Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya.
- Reference materials (RM) play pivotal role in maintaining the quality infrastructure of any economy through testing and calibration with precise measurements traceable to SI units.
National Atomic Timescale
- India has become self-reliant in measuring the time within the range of a nano second. Achieving the accuracy level of 2.8 Nano Second is a huge capability in itself.
- Now Indian Standard Time is matching the International Standard Time with the accuracy range of less than 3 nano second.
