India’s first corporate-run train Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express flagged off in Lucknow

  • The first corporate run train of the country, Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express was flagged off on October 4, 2019 by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Lucknow Junction.
  • While flagging off the First IRCTC run Tejas express, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requested IRCTC to run such trains on other routes like Lucknow to Varanansi and Lucknow to Agra to boost tourism.
  • Apart from offering passengers a more comfortable and fastest ride experience between Lucknow and Delhi, IRCTC has introduced several firsts in terms of service standards, refund of money in case of delay, travel insurance up to 25 lakhs, full refund of wait listed tickets, tickets booking till 2 minutes before departure, tea-coffee vending machines, call bell and toilet indicator facilities in train.
  • According to the IRCTC, the passengers will get a refund of Rs 100 in case the train gets delayed for an hour. If the delay is of more than 2 hours then Rs 250 will be given to passengers by IRCTC.
  • It is also for the first time IRCTC is offering free travel insurance of Rs 25 lakh to the passengers travelling on the train. Taxi hiring and hotel booking facilities will also be given to the passengers on demand.
  • Tejas train is quite different from other trains in term of infrastructure and facilities.
  • Special focus is on cleanliness and apart from providing automatic dustbins, toilets of the train will be cleaned in every 15 minutes.
  • The Tejas train will run 6 days in a week barring Tuesday. The commercial run of the train will start from tomorrow. Passengers can get ticket till 2 minutes before departure of train through IRCTC website and app only.
  • There will be no tatkal quota But IRCTC will follow a ‘flexi fare’ scheme for the train tickets which are priced higher than shatabdi. Train from Lucknow will start at 6: 10 am and reach Delhi at 12:25 pm. Train from Delhi will start at 3:35 pm and reach lucknow at 10:05 PM. Wooden cutlery will be used in Tejas instead of plastic ones to reduce the usage of single use plastic.
