The Member of Parliament (MP) Jamayang Tsering Namgyail unfurled the National Flag & celebrated 72nd Republic Day at the highest location at an altitude of 15000ft (4571mtr) on Stongday Top in Zanskar Sub Division in Kargil with minimum temperature below -35 degree Celsius.
- The main attraction of the event was snow sculptured National Emblem 270km far away from the District Headquarter of Kargil in Ladakh.
- On this occasion the newly Padma Shri awardee Tsultim Chonjor – the Manji of Ladakh who single handedly constructed 38km road to connect Zanskar with Himachal Pradesh was the special guest.
