The Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution virtually celebrated the National Consumer Day on December 24, 2020.
- Theme: The day was celebrated with the theme “New Features of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019”.
- The Consumer Protection Act 1986 came into effect on this day, hence National Consumer Day is celebrated on this day.
- On December 24, 1986, Consumer Protection Act 1986, regarded as the ‘Magna Karta’, received the approval of the President of India.
