Four astronauts – three from the US and one from Japan – took off in NASA and SpaceX’s historic commercial flight to the International Space Station on November 15, 2020.
- The crew rode to orbit from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in a rocket and capsule provided by the SpaceX company.
- The Dragon capsule which sat on top of the rocket, was named Resilience in light of Covid pandemic.
- It’s only the second time the firm has supplied the service.
- The four astronauts went to the ISS are the Americans Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker, and the highly experienced Japanese space agency (Jaxa) astronaut Soichi Noguchi.
- Mr Glover will be the first black crew member to arrive and work on the ISS, marking another another pioneering moment for the NASA/SpaceX collaboration.
