N Rangasamy-the AINRC party chief, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the record fourth time on May 7, 2021.
- Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rangasamy.
- The All India NR Congress (AINRC) has contest polls in alliance with the BJP and the alliance secured 16 seats out of 30 that went to polls.
- In the Puducherry assembly, 30 members are elected by the people and three are nominated by the Centre. The majority mark is 17.
- With three nominated members, the NDA’s tally will be 19, two more than the majority mark.
