Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 28, 2020 paid rich tributes to social reformer Mahatma Ayyankali on his jayanti.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, India remains indebted to greats like Mahatma Ayyankali.
Ayyankali was born on August 28 in the year 1863, in Venganoor, Thiruvananthapuram.
He was a social reformer who worked for the advancement of deprived people in the princely state of Travancore in British India, the present day Kerala.
Mahatma Ayyankali also sought to improve access to education. He died at the age of 68 years in 1941.
