The Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2019 has been passed in the Lok Sabha on December 12, 2019.
The bill is aimed at giving the three deemed Sanskrit Universities the full-fledged Central Universities status.
The three Sanskrit deemed universities that will be converte into central universities include the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan and the Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in New Delhi and the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Tirupati.
In his reply, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said the Bill will help promote the treasure of knowledge in Sanskrit. He said anyone in the world can come and do research on Sanskrit through the Central Universities.
The Minister said, all Indian languages will be given equal priority in their promotion. He said India was a vishwaguru with a great wealth of knowledge in all subjects as stored in Sanskrit.
