Kuwait has bestowed its highest honour, the Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 December 2024.
This was the 20th international honour given to Prime Minister Modi by a country.
About Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer
The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer is a knighthood order of Kuwait. It is awarded to Heads of State and foreign Sovereigns and to members of foreign royal families in sign of friendship.
The award has been previously awarded to foreign leaders like former US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush and United Kingdoms Prince Charles.
Kuwait Visit
Mr Modi is on a two-day visit to Kuwait. This is first visit by an Indian prime minister in over four decades.
The visit holds immense significance as it follows the last prime ministerial trip to Kuwait by the late Indira Gandhi in 1981. Former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s visit in 2009 was the last high-level engagement from India to the Gulf nation.
