Kishore Makwana has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) by President Droupadi Murmu.
- The NCSC is a constitutional body established to provide safeguards against the exploitation of SCs and Anglo-Indian Communities and to protect and promote their social, economic, educational, and cultural interests.
- Article 338 of the Indian constitution deals with National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
- The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and other Members of the Commission shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal.
- The Commission shall have all the powers of a civil court trying a suit and in particular in respect of the mentioned matters in the constitution.
