Kerala’s Kappad Beach in Kozhikode and Chal Beach in Kannur have received the prestigious Blue Flag certification from the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). The certification is a globally recognized eco-label awarded to beaches, marinas, and boating operators that meet 33 stringent environmental, safety, and sustainability criteria.

- Role of BEAMS Programme:
- The Beach Environment & Aesthetic Management Services (BEAMS) programme, under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), has been instrumental in this achievement.
