Kampala Feminist Declaration

Sudanese women, with the support of UN Women, came together to forge a feminist peace agenda in Kampala in October 2023.

  • The conference in Kampala was a turning point, a moment of solidarity and empowerment for Sudanese women.
  • Together, they crafted a declaration called “Kampala Feminist Declaration” which outlined their vision for peace and justice, addressing the immediate needs of women in conflict zones while also tackling the systemic causes of violence and vulnerability.
  • The declaration was adopted in July 2024.
  • Based on these declaration, Sudanese women have called for equal representation in all peace negotiations. The women are demanding 50 per cent representation at decision-making tables and a greater say in shaping the country’s future.
