Kalrav-Bihar’s first bird festival

A three-day state bird festival titled ‘Kalrav’ began on January 15, 2021 in Nagi-Nakti bird sanctuaries in Jamui district. Bihar. It will be formally inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar on 16th January 2021.

  • This is the first bird festival being held in the state.
  • The objective behind this festival, being organised between January 15 to 17, is to create awareness about birds especially migratory birds.
  • The activities such as- bird race, bird quiz for kids/school children, cycle rally, kho kho, kabaddi, boating, bird watching, painting competition are also planned in the festival.
  • The Nagi-Nakti bird sanctuaries attracts many migratory bird species. The Nagi Dam (791 ha) and Nakti Dam (332 ha) are two sanctuaries so close to each other that they can be taken as one bird area.
