Jan Aushadhi Train

On 3rd day of the weeklong celebrations, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways flagged off a Jan Aushadhi Train (Chhattisgarh Samparkranti Express) New Delhi on March 3.

  • This train has been wrapped with branding of Jan Aushadhi scheme to spread the awareness about Jan Aushadhi Generic medicines which are available through more than 9000 Kendra at affordable prices.
  • This train will travel to more than 4 States for 2 months. Also, the similar train from Pune to Danapur has been flagged off covering 4 States for 2 months for generating awareness amongst the general public about Jan Aushadhi scheme.
  • With an objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government.
  • Under PMBJP, an incentive of Rs. 5.00 lakh is provided to the Jan Aushadhi Kendras as financial assistance and one-time additional incentive of Rs. 2.00 lakh (as reimbursement for IT and Infra expenditure) is provided to Jan Aushadhi Kendras opened in North-Eastern States, Himalayan areas, island territories and backward areas identified as aspirational districts by NITI Ayog or if opened by Women Entrepreneur, Ex-serviceman, Divyang, SCs & STs.
  • At present, these Kendras make available more than 1600 medicines and 250 surgical devices including nutraceuticals, Ayush products and Suvidha Sanitary pads which are sold at Rs. 1/- per pad. t Jan Aushadhi Kendra can be opened by any private individual.
  • 20% commission is provided to him so that he can not only get a medium of employment, but also of service.
