ISRO launches ESA’s Proba-3 mission

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on 5th December (2024) successfully launched the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba-3 mission aboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C59 rocket.

The rocket was launched from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

The PSLV-C59/PROBA-3 Mission was the 61st flight of PSLV and the 26th using PSLV-XL configuration.

Proba-3 is an In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) mission of the European Space Agency.

The mission goal is to demonstrate precise formation flying. It consists of 2 spacecrafts viz. the Coronagraph Spacecraft (CSC) and the Occulter Spacecraft (OSC).
