Palma-a gas hub, is a coastal town in Mozambique. It was under the control of Islamic State-linked jihadists since March 2021.
- However the Mozambique military announced that it has regained full control of the coastal town in the first week of April 2021.
- Dozens of civilians were killed and at least 11,000 displaced after the militants invaded Palma on 24 March, reported BBC.
- The militants, known locally as al-Shabab, have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group.
