- M.V. Mahabahu, a luxury passenger cruise, set sail on April 29, 2019 from Guwahati to Kolkata via Bangladesh, marking a new dawn for trans-border inland water navigation.
- The cruise left the Pandu port on a 17-day voyage with 30 persons on board including nine foreign tourists. Three Unesco World Heritage Sites — Sundarbans, Mosque City of Bagerhat (Bangladesh) and Manas National Park in Assam — are among its stopovers.
- The cruise ship MV Mahabaahu is a joint venture between Adventure Resorts & Cruises Private Limited and Assam Tourism Development Corporation.
- The maiden journey for m.v. Mahabahu followed an agreement between Delhi and Dhaka in October 2018 to allow river cruises on the India-Bangladesh protocol route involving four major rivers — the Brahmaputra in Assam, the Jamuna and the Padma in Bangladesh and the Ganga in West Bengal, besides a network of smaller rivers through the Sunderbans delta.
- The Brahmaputra is part of the National Waterways-2 of the Inland Waterways Authority of India.
