The International Day of Democracy was observed on September 15, 2020.
- On the occasion, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu extended his greetings and said, Democracy gives voice to the common man and ensures that all are equal before the rule of law.
- The theme for International Day of Democracy 2020 is “COVID-19: A Spotlight on Democracy.”
- In 2007 the United Nations General Assembly resolved to observe 15 September as the International Day of Democracy.
