39th World Congress of Poets held in Bhubaneswar

39th World Congress of Poets based on the theme “Compassion through Poetry” was held from the 2nd to 5th of October 2019 at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KIIT & KISS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It was held in English, Spanish and Chinese.

This year’s motto “Compassion through Poetry” was consciously thought of and agreed upon by the executive board of World Congress of Poets.

Addressing the valedictory function of the 39th World Congress of Poets on Octoher 7, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said, “The colonial rulers always tried to attack the culture by destroying the local language and we should not fall prey to that.”

About World Congress of Poets

The World Congress of Poets (WCP) was founded in 1969 by Amado M.Yuzon, Krishna Srinivas, Lou Lutour and Tin-Wen Chung.

The first congress was held in Manila in 1969.
